Soccer (or football, as we call it) is the default sport when I was growing up in the United Arab Emirates. Most of my classmates didn't care much for basketball because it didn't *look* that cool -- until we came across Kobe Bryant compilations.
Kobe showed us how the game could be played at the highest level. His incredible work ethic and talent combined to produce effortless-looking execution. Our shared admiration for the Mamba and his peers brought us together. Soon enough, a group of... read more
Maya Angelou once said to Oprah Winfrey in an interview "Your legacy is every life you have touched".
Kobe Bryant, without a shadow of a doubt, was a remarkable basketball player. He led the LA Lakers to 5 NBA Championships and was voted the Most Valuable Player 2 years consecutively. I have always admired his passion ad focus as an athlete. However, in the past recent years, Kobe became so much more off the court. The work Kobe has done as a Philanthropist has inspired me the... read more
So when Kobe passed I kept seeing his highlights playing in my head with this song. I thought it would be dope if I could make a video out of it so I had to watch a few tutorials to learn how to do it. So yea i made this video could you please let me know what you think I tried syncing certain parts to the music and also the song is fitting with him playing his HS ball in Philly. Also keep watching when the music stops there's more.
Kobe was never my favorite player or anything like that, but he was the most important player to me, because I want to model myself after him, i want to be remembered for my work and inspire other to work hard and change their view on life and the world, Kobe thought me to work HARD and be the best i can be, i am still bettering myself everyday and working more and more to achieve my goal. I love Kobe and will never forget him. I've cried pretty much every day since his death and am devastated,... read more
I was born in Chicago, IL in the summer of 1988. My grandmother loved basketball, and loved her Chicago Bulls. She passed that love on to me. I fell in love with basketball and the Bulls. Watching Michael Jordan and the Bulls as a kid was magical. They seemed like super heroes that could never be beaten. I wanted to be just like them. I became obsessed with the sport. I begged my dad to put a hoop up above the garage door. He finally did for my birthday one year. I would play basketball every... read more
As a little girl, my favourite thing to do was play basketball. I spent countless summer days on a court next to my house playing 21, around the world, 3-on-3, horse and other games. My second favourite thing to do was playing video games, specifically Kobe Bryant’s Courtside. I ALWAYS picked the Lakers. They were my absolute favourite team. Even being from Toronto and getting our shiny new team—The Toronto Raptors—didn’t stop me from cheering for the Lakers.
I started playing... read more
When I heard the story of Kobe passing away, I was in disbelief - Lebron had just passed Kobe in all time scoring and it seemed as though Kobe's legacy was more relevant than ever. It felt as though his presence was reborn and reintegrated back into the NBA from social media to news-coverage. I was deeply saddened, even though I was never a Kobe fan and I had never watched him play live.
I wanted to pay homage to Kobe through what I did best: film making. I loved editing and producing... read more
As soon as I heard the tragic news of the helicopter crash that killed Kobe, GiGi and seven other people I was extremely devastated. I never really watched Kobe but I'm still so hurt by his death. To honor him and his daughter I've decided to do a challenge 8 sets of 24 any workout (ex pushups, situps, etc) and a 2 minute timed workout (ex planks) for 81 days. I chose 8 for Kobe's first number and to represent his mentality of relentlessness, I chose 24 for the second number he wore, I chose 2... read more
